Wish there was less foul language. Mendoza makes clear in her introduction that her book is an attempt to make this world accessible to a variety of readers, though mmendoza language of the book delves at times into the specialized fields of linguistics, anthropology, and criminology. That she respects the participants in her ethnography is clear from the note she writes directly to them in her introduction, in which she praises them for the lives they have made for themselves in the ten years since the ethnography was first written.
