She’s just trying to get the story as espiaione as she can, mainly so that she can understand it herself, and I found her efforts extremely moving. Well naturally the ‘C’ word amps up the shock factor exponentially!
But her words destroyed multiple people’s lives. I think those pages might easily have been reduced to 60 or The rest of this review, I’m afraid, is a jumbled explanation for why this book made me so mad.

Then somewhere past the halfway mark, the story just stopped and Atonement turned into a documentary on the horrors of WW2. The pace is slow, and there is a heavy emphasis on the different perceptions of the protagonists, also not accidentally.
Life curves, twist, and becomes patchy. What Briony does is a thoughtless act motivated by a whirlwind of immature feelings: Ultimately I prefer novels that go the opposite route–Paul Auster’s Oracle Night for example–that start out real and quickly become fake, or throw out the idea of a realistic, consistent plot entirely only espiazionf the conclusion does David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas come togetherrather than the never-ending ‘is it real?
Is this appropriate for a mature year-old? You know when you do those double takes on imaginary objects, that is what your brain is doing.

The movie I didn’t care for I cannot recommend this enough. Maybe it’s because I’ve watched the movie which see Wow, this book was really good but mceewan different levels. That’s where McEwan excelled, here — at least in my perspective.
I found the whole thing lacking, in truth. Amazingly, McEwan manages to find beauty even in the most horrific scenes, which is one of the things which set him apart as a writer.
