But I am, so I’ll probably finish out the series. Standard tie-in tripe, only to be read if you are curious about the fiction side of Battletech. May 04, Mphecker rated it it was amazing. To be fair this book had some things to recommend it.

Be the first to ask a question about Decision at Thunder Rift. The peripheral characters feel similarly irrelevant and two-dimensional, making it difficult to care about their fates, and all the setting exposition and dull fight scenes make the book feel like a scenario book or AAR. Great story, plenty of action. I might have read this one back in the day, but it felt fresh and fun and not dated at all.

I devoured this book back inand I can only call it a bit painful to read today. Like in 40k, a lot of tech is irreplaceable, and war ravage I remember specifically when I found out that the Mechwarrior games I loved as a kid were part of a larger universe.

It really sets the tone and gives the reader a great idea of what it is to fight with and against these massive machines and how it changes warfare completely. It’s a bit action movie but sometimes that’s what you’re after!

A huge number of missing periods, some typos like “m” instead of “in” I was enjoying the new PC game and was happy to see some of the old books available in epub for cheap.
