Can Smoky deliver the final blow to this psychopath or will this killer make Smoky confess her sins before she meets her maker? And it still blows me away how he is able to write this series from the first person point of view of Smoky Barrett, and quite effectively, too. While still rather unpleasant in parts, this one didn’t feel as brutal and gory as the first two either. This gritty novel is a fun and fast read for thriller fans; recommended cidy Library Journal.
I have to say that The Darker Side is a long awaited release for me. Everyone in the world has secrets.

Can’t quite put my finger on it,perhaps I didn’t feel as committed to Smoky and her team as I did in the past,but even though I continued to read it,I found myself skimming some paragraphs.
Some mccadyen easy to sweep under the rug, others could have used a bit more explanation, but none were glaring enough to take anything away from this 5 star rating.

I am so glad I was introduced to this particular series by some good friends and heartily agree with them that this is indeed thriller writing at a really high level. No, as there were some plot holes my buddy read partner and I were able to uncover. Anyone want to swap? And the focus of this story circles around the Catholic church and confessionals.
Strong characterization is McFayden’s strength first and foremost, but he has always been able to come through with an intricate and well thought out plot–this was no exception. But this time, she seems to have a difficult time getting a bead on this guy.
And because the murderer is focused on airing these secrets, Smoky’s team members also deal with some of their own secrets. Parts of this book were very good but overall it was disjointed and not anywhere close to the writing caliber of the first two in the series.
Yet the team has never been faced with such an apparently insoluble problem.
I can’t actually explain why exactly, but this one didn’t grip me like the first two. Mxfadyen surely that is what good thriller writing is all about. This is the third book in the Smoky Barrett series, which I have been binge reading.

Above all, McFadyen is a supremely gifted storyteller. The ending was rather passive, at mcfdayen as far as Smoky and her team are concerned. However this book lacked everything which made the first two books exceptional. When FBI Agent Smoky Barrett and her team of investigators are called in by the Director himself to handle a case of murder committed on a flight from Texas to Virginia, the case begins with a shock, and the twists keep coming.
I’m enjoying the progression of character development as the books move along. I can easily forgive him for what might seem to be imperfections because of how he portrays his characters. Apparently, this murderer is on a twenty year killing spree and the numbers represent people killed. This one hasn’t been my most gripping however.
