Hapgood writes in Voices of Spirit Hapgood’s theory about the portolan charts being copies is very believable. Hapgood begins to attribute some of the errors on the maps to rising sea levels. It turned into a larger project than they thought it would be but they have done an exceptional job on it. Each map tends to have its own unique errors, added by the mapmaker.
