My love hate with Clive Cussler continues. While I haven’t read the other Dirk Pitt books, I still enjoyed this one.
May 07, Michael rated it really liked it Shelves: I won’t give up on Cussler, sometimes I like an easy adventure read, but this one was just ‘blah’.
This one has a lot about greenhouse gases and climate change. It turns out this is no fault of the authors but of my own. This is the first Dirk Pitt book I’ve read and it was a great romp full of adventure.
Just be aware of the drawback of the abridged CDs. Of course there were numerous seat-of-the-pants scenes, but thankfully, they were reasonably realistic, not like the unbelievably incredible scenes I’ve been bombarded with in other Cussler novels.

If you’ve read “The Terror” by Dan Simmons, you’d get a cclive out of this one, if you haven’t, go read it! I doubt I’ll pick up another audio book again as I found this exercise taxing my concentration and attention. So of course it was relieving to find out that it was father and son, haha. I thought there drfit plenty of general good-natured cheesiness and too-convenient coincidences but overall it kept me entertained all the way through. He sets forth a mystery that you really want to explore and then carries you into the main story.
Anyway, enough of a rant on them.
Arctic Drift, by Clive Cussler
cyssler I applaud the attempt to weave climate change and carbon sequestration issues into the story, but the plot stretches believably too thin when Cussler has an energy and minerals oligarch put Canada and the United States on the brink of a shooting war.
